Wastewater Operator I – Stormwater Management
Department: Wastewater Treatment Plant
Supervisor Wastewater Plant Assistant Superintendent
Hours of Work Monday - Friday (7:00am – 3:30pm)
Hourly Pay $19.29 - $24.97

Job Description Summary:
Nature and Scope:
The primary responsibility of the Wastewater Operator I – Stormwater Management position is the administration of and activities related to the City of Sidney’s Stormwater Management Plan and implementation of the Stormwater Utility fee. This incumbent will administer and enforce ordinances related to stormwater and stormwater runoff, the OEPA issued NPDES permit, various environmental projects, and administering the requirements of an approved OEPA Stormwater Management Plan. The Wastewater Operator will interact with staff of various City of Sidney departments, local industrial and commercial customers, and the public in the course of performing their job duties and assignments.

Job Requirements:
* Ability to prepare and present clear and concise oral and written communications
* Ability to read and understand the laws and regulations relevant to environmental programs
* Exercise the appropriate safety precautions in performing work functions
* Normal or corrected vision and hearing, within limits set by the City’s physical examination standards
* Ability to install/remove portable samplers and open and close manhole covers
* Ability to operate a motor vehicle and operate personal computer
* Work in all weather conditions.
* Ability to effectively use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
* Knowledge of chemistry, biology and mathematics as related to environmental programs
* Maintain a valid State of Ohio Drivers License
* Maintain residency within Shelby County or obtain 1 year from date of hire
* Ability to perform work accurately & work alone for extended periods of time
* Follow instructions and guidance provided
* Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
* Ability to utilize ARC GIS and related equipment

SHELBY PUBLIC TRANSIT

Part-time Sub-Drivers


The Shelby Public Transit Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of passengers, daily collection of fares and reconciliation with daily manifest sheet. The incumbent will work varied hours and transport an average of 20 passengers per day. Starting wage is $8.52. This position is subject to alcohol and controlled substances testing as required by ODOT and FTA. Qualifications include:

1. Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical including a drug screen and breath alcohol test, and criminal background check.
2. Physically able to assist passengers, which include lifting, pulling, bending, and kneeling.
3. Ability to climb in and out of the vehicle repeatedly during a shift.
4. Possess a valid Ohio Drivers License, CDL not required.
5. High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
6. Ability to read a map, do basic math, and write legibly.
7. Be able to follow oral and written instructions.
