Current staffing levels of 10 assigned per day is the same as SFD’s 1994 crew levels. Over the same period of time SFD has had a 60% increase in call volume.

SFD’s staffing has not kept pace with the historic increase in call volume, over 4000 calls the past 3 years.

The Department of Fire & Emergency Services is a full- service, full-time career department that delivers a wide range of professional fire protection services. The Department consists of three divisions:

  • Administration
  • Operations - day-to-day delivery of emergency services
  • Prevention - investigation and education

In addition to providing service to Sidney residents, the Department provides contractual fire protection and/or emergency response services to various areas outside the municipal limits.
