The City of Sidney is extending the start dates for the Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) Program beginning with Area 7 and continuing with the remaining year dates. The OPEA has approved the City’s request to delay the plan by one year.
“The City understands the financial impact this program has on the City property owners and their concerns of having outside contractors on their property during the pandemic and we are extremely happy the Ohio EPA understood and approved our request to delay the program start dates”, stated William Blakely, Utilities Director.
Area 7 will now begin the I&I program process in April of 2022. An information packet will be sent to property owners in Area 7 early in 2022. The City is encouraging Area 7 property owners to stay on the original 2020 completion schedule, if possible. Many property owners in this project area have decided to proceed and not delay their work.
The revised program start dates will NOT affect the dates for Areas 1 through 6 which are currently in process.
The City originally developed at 21-year program as a part of a three-pronged strategy designed to remove sources of clean water from both public and private sources to improve the City’s wastewater treatment process.
