Sidney Municipal Court Judge Gary Carter recently released the 2021 Annual Report. In the report, he noted the court caseload continues to increase and the workload was starting to return to more typical pre-pandemic levels. In 2021, Sidney Municipal Court implemented electronic filing services through its CourtView case management system. This new filing option allows attorneys and private parties to file Civil and Small Claims cases electronically to save processing time and allows our clerks to process filings and notify filers more quickly. In 2021, the court experienced a 35% increase in case filings over the prior year.
The Probation Department transitioned to a new case management system in 2021. The Ohio Community Supervision System allows the department to report information to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and to share information with Probation Departments around the state. The system also includes a kiosk check-in system to help manage the flow of people into the department for appointments.
