City Summer Recreation Program Update

City of Sidney Parks and Recreation - Learn Play Grow

This week we’ll take a look at 2022 activities taking place in the Sidney Parks and Recreation department over the summer.

  • 7,201 meals were provided to children during the Summer Food program. The most popular location, which distributed 1,193 meals this summer, was Deam Park.
  • Deam Park and McMillen Park were new Summer Food program locations in 2022.
  • 2,133 meals were provided to children for consumption over the weekend as a part of the Backpack program.
  • The Sidney Waterpark was open 47 days for season; it was closed three days and closed early 10 days.
  • The Waterpark was rented 17 times for private engagements.
  • Waterpark concession stand sales totaled $20, 983.14, a decrease of $6,420.06 from 2021.
  • 483 ballgames were scheduled for Harmon Park, the fields at the Flanagan and Custenborder complexes.
  • A total of 509 shelter house reservations were made during the season.
  • Over 30 different clinics/activities in the parks were scheduled. Total participation in the activities was 1,082.
  • 79 children participated in free swimming lesson this summer.
