[ARCHIVED] Sidney Police to Offer Self-Defense Course

Sidney Police 1820

The Sidney Police Department will be offering a G.U.A.R.D. UP self defense class for women starting October 22, 2022. The free course will be held on October 22, 29, November 5 and 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Police Department.

The G.U.A.R.D. UP Defense System is a 12 hour program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques for women. This comprehensive course begins with risk awareness, reduction and avoidance education, and then progresses to hands-on defense training. Classes will be taught by officers of the Sidney Police Department.

Each participant will be given a manual that outlines the entire physical defense program for reference and continuous personal growth. Every student will then be able to return to any future classes to practice and refresh their skills.

For those interested in attending, please contact Officer Hurd at rhurd@sidneyoh.com or by phone at 937.498.2351. Classes are available for females age 12 years old and older. Please include the names (and ages if under 18) of anyone who is planning on attending.
