The city has contracted with NECO Water to provide updates to existing water meters within the city. Just over 6,300 units will be updated. This work will begin Monday, February 13, 2023, and will take several months to complete.
As a part of the work, NECO Water personnel will be moving the R450 wall MIU units and replacing them with an R900 wall MIU unit. For those locations with pit meters, the existing R450 Pit MIU and antenna will be removed and replaced with new R900i unit. All data from the old units will be recorded prior to being removed to ensure accurate billing.
NECO personnel will not need to gain entry inside of homes to complete the work. The following summary describes the general steps of the installation work to be done. The actual work may differ from this description, and will not be limited to these actions:
- Locate the unit on the outside of the home without greeting the resident
- Replace old MIU with new MIU
- Verify RF installation with Manufacturer's tester or equivalent
- Clean work area
- Complete paperwork
As many as four NECO Water installers will be working in the city at any given time on the project. NECO Water personnel will have identification with them and will be driving branded vehicles. NECO Water personnel will be working Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Anyone with questions about the water meter update project is encouraged to call Meter Department Foreman Kevin Kitchen at 937.538.0126.
