Summer Recreation Programs Announced

City of Sidney Parks and Recreation - Learn Play Grow

Summer will soon be here and that means the Sidney Parks & Recreation Department will be entering its busiest season of the year. In addition to maintaining the 450+ acres of parkland, the department also oversees a number of summer programs. From a Mobile COSI visit to stories in the park to arts and crafts and games, you’ll find all the details you need in this brochure.

The Parks and Recreation Department will also be sponsoring the 2023 Summer Lunch Program, a food service program for children through the Ohio Department of Education, Summer Food Service Program for Children. There are 12 lunch sites which will operate Monday through Friday from June 5 through August 11, 2023.

Every child attending the Summer Lunch Program will also be eligible for the Summer Backpack Program. Every Friday, children will be provided with weekend meals. This program is generously sponsored by private donors. Donors this year include: Sidney Body Carstar, Buckeye Lincoln Ford, Cargill and FISH of Shelby County.

The Sidney Water Park is scheduled to open on June 3, 2023. Season passes are now on sale for $36.00 each at the Revenue Collection Department in City Hall. The water park is also available for private rental this summer. Private rentals can be made by calling 937.498.8155.

There will also be four sessions of four week free summer swimming lessons. Pre-registration is required. The swimming lessons are privately and publicly funded. Thank you to Dr. Alvetro’s office, Area Energy & Electric and FISH of Shelby County for the sponsorships.
