On Monday, July 10, 2023, City Council officially adopted Resolution 60-23 to accept the donation of five parcels of land for development as a new park. The five parcels (01-18-25-453-008, 01-18-25-453-009, 01-18-25-453-010, 01-18-25-453-011, 01-18-25-453-013) were gifted to the city by the Jim Hemmelgarn family. These parcels are located just east of the St. Marys Avenue and Grove Street intersection.
The land includes a large slope that will be used as the backdrop for the new pocket park which, once fully developed, will include a covered children’s play area featuring chutes, slides, intrinsic steps, and gardens. Picnic areas, a pavilion, and accessible ramps are also included in the development plans.
