At 1:29 p.m. on January 11, 2024, crews from the Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to 204 Forest Street Sidney, Ohio for a structure fire.
On arrival, firefighters found a two-story, two-family residence with light smoke showing from the rear of the structure. Fire was located on the exterior between the first and second floor. Occupants and pets were on the front porch.
Firefighters initiated an offensive exterior fire attack. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and checked for extension to the structure. One of the occupants advised command that there was someone still inside on the second floor. Fire crews removed one wheelchair bound victim from the second floor with no incident.
AES Energy and Centerpoint Energy were contacted to secure the utilities. Red Cross was contacted for the displaced families and their pets.
No injuries were reported to all occupants or Sidney Firefighters.
One off-duty crew of Sidney firefighters were contacted to staff the station.
The loss to the property, owned by George Hesser, is estimated at $5,000 and $0 to contents.
Anna Rescue Medic handled one medical incident in the city during the fire.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is under investigation by the Sidney Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit.
