Firefighter/Paramedic Lucas Woodward of the Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services has been named the American Legion Department of Ohio Firefighter of the Year. Woodward was recognized locally by the Sidney American Legion and subsequently nominated for higher honors within the organization. He will be formally recognized at the American Legion’s state conference in Columbus this January.

“Lucas is an outstanding member of the department who, above all else, is immensely humble,” said Chief Hollinger. “Never one to take credit for projects or tasks, he instead selflessly serves the community and his fellow department members quietly and inconspicuously. He is involved in countless projects and initiatives, providing excellent contributions with careful planning and thorough execution. I am grateful and thankful that he is a member of our team.”

Woodward was recognized earlier this year as the Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services Firefighter of the Year.

The City of Sidney extends its congratulations to Firefighter/Paramedic Woodward on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his continued dedication to the safety and service of the Sidney community.
