Public Safety Cadets

The Sidney Police Department is pleased to introduce a formal law enforcement program for young individuals. The Public Safety Cadets program invites participants aged 14 to 20 to gain an in-depth understanding of law enforcement through training sessions and hands-on experiences.

Key Features of the Program:

  • Observational Learning: Cadets have the chance to witness real-life situations faced by law enforcement professionals from a safe distance.
  • Community Engagement: Participants assist local agencies during community events, providing valuable support while receiving training relevant to law enforcement.

  • Safe Learning Environment: The Cadet program offers a practical opportunity to explore law enforcement in a secure setting.
  • Scholarships Available: Cadets may also qualify for scholarships to pursue education related to law enforcement.

Requirements to Join

  • Must be between 14-21 years old
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA
  • No arrests or convictions involving felonies, crimes of violence, drug offenses or association with any gang or criminal group
  • Be of good moral character
