Dispatchers: The City Of Sidney is frequently looking to hire both part time and full time dispatchers. We are looking for dispatchers who can remain calm while responding to emergency situations and demonstrate an ability to process information and communicate the needed information to emergency service personnel. We are also looking for people with good clerical skills. You can find the application here https://www.sidneyoh.com/Jobs

Internship: Interns are also welcomed to the police department. They are unpaid but an internship at the Sidney Police Department can count for college credit as well as serve as a resume builder for those interested in becoming police officers. We have gone on to hire interns as full time police officers. Those who are interested are encouraged to email Chief Balling at wballing@sidneyoh.com to see if there are internship positions available.

Reserve Officers: The Sidney Police Department Reserve was established to supplement and assist sworn police officers in their duties. This unit provides professional, sworn reserve, auxiliary, and special function officers who can augment staffing levels. All applicants are required to meet and pass the same pre-employment procedures as sworn police officers before appointment. Before appointment as a reserve officer, an applicant must have completed a state-approved basic academy or extended basic academy. Reserve officers assist regular officers in the enforcement of laws and in maintaining peace and order within the community. Assignments of reserve officers will generally be to augment the Patrol Section. Reserve officers may be assigned to other areas within the Department as needed. Reserve officers are required to work a minimum of eight hours per month. Reserve officers may act only in a supplementary capacity to the regular force.
